Birmingham 2024

RD 9 | Protective Stadium

Birmingham is a new market for Supercross but it’s not the first time SX has run in the Yellowhammer State. Talladega Superspeedway (45 minutes east) held an AMA-sanctioned Supercross in March 1984. The venue is Protective Stadium, an open air football field with a capacity of 47,100.

450SX Winner: Jett Lawrence

Jett Lawrence is the first rider in 2024 to win back to back races and he did it in convincing style, leading from the gate drop to the checkered flag. Cooper Webb made a dent in the lead halfway through the race, but Lawrence was able to match the pace and never let Webb get within three seconds. He now has four wins this season and is rapidly climbing the ‘most rookie wins’ chart. Lawrence left Birmingham with a 13 point lead over Webb.

250 East Winner: Tom Vialle

Tom Vialle led from start to finish to claim his second 250SX win one week after taking his first. He left Alabama with a 1 point lead, which means he jumped from 18th in points to the championship lead in just three rounds.

Vialle’s first and second main event wins happened back to back. Coincidentally, fellow Frenchman Dylan Ferrandis was the last 250SX rider to pull this off (2019).
