Detroit 2024

RD 5 | Ford Field

Detroit has a rich legacy in the sport going back to 1976 when the Pontiac Silverdome hosted its first Supercross. Decades of springtime doubleheaders followed before the race moved to Ford Field in 2006 (28 miles southeast) as the new home for SX in Michigan.

450SX Winner: Jett Lawrence

Jett Lawrence led wire-to-wire in Detroit to become the first two-time winner of 2024. Lawrence, Chase Sexton and Eli Tomac were 1-2-3 off the start, but Sexton never got close enough to engage in battle and Tomac faded all the way back to 10th by the end of the main. Sexton took over the red plate from teammate Aaron Plessinger, with Lawrence just one point behind.

250 East Winner: Austin Forkner

Austin Forkner was able to avoid the first turn carnage that took out over one third of the field, including Haiden Deegan and Tom Vialle to win his first 250SX main event in almost two years. It was Forkner’s 13th career 250SX win, putting him in a tie with Jeremy McGrath for 3rd most all-time. Max Anstie finished 2nd and rookie Daxton Bennick finished 3rd in his first pro Supercross race.
