Muddy Creek

Blountville, TN

The Volunteer State joined the national calendar in 2013, thanks to Muddy Creek Raceway. Located just minutes from the legendary Bristol Motor Speedway, the tight race track challenged the sport’s best in the humid June air. The track hosted six consecutive nationals, but hasn’t hosted a top level Motocross event since 2018.

Venues

Muddy Creek Raceway was founded in the 1970’s by Paul Baskett and his two sons. Located in the town of Blountville, Muddy Creek continues to host racing throughout the year. The venue notably hosts Loretta Lynn’s qualifiers and the Cody Gragg Memorial 2-Stroke race and sits just 20 minutes away from the Tennessee/Virginia state line.

2013-Back In Business

Defending champion Ryan Dungey claimed his first win of the 2013 season in the inaugural Muddy Creek National. After securing the championship in his first outdoor season with KTM, Ryan Villopoto’s return to outdoor action began by beating Dungey in the opening two rounds. Villopoto continued his dominance with a first moto victory, but a pair of crashes knocked him to 4th in the second. Dungey took the win with a 3-1 day, with Honda’s Justin Barcia and Villopoto completing the podium.

The banner day for the Orange Brigade continued, as Marvin Musquin used consistent 2-2 scores to win the 250 overall. Title rivals Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen each scored a win and a 4th, with Musquin spoiling the party on the top step of the podium. (Photo: Simon Cudby)

2016-Fighting To The End

RCH Racing Suzuki’s Ken Roczen started out the 2016 season in impressive fashion, sweeping both motos at four of the first five rounds of the summer. At Muddy Creek, Roczen had his hands full with former 250 rival Eli Tomac. The Kawasaki rider took the lead early in the first moto, but a quick pass by Roczen set the top two order for the remainder of the race. The second moto was an epic battle, with Tomac catching Roczen in the final laps and trying everything to pass the German rider. The duo was on another level in that second moto, as third place Broc Tickle finished 51 seconds behind.
