Malcolm Stewart Wins!
In his 109th 450SX start, Malcolm Stewart pulled off what may be the most ‘feel good’ win in Supercross history. With his brother, James, calling the race as an analyst for NBC, ‘Mookie’ passed Chase Sexton with 5 laps to go to become the 69th unique winner in 450SX history.
The win also gave the Stewart brothers the unbreakable record of first siblings to win a premier class Supercross main events. Malcolm, 32, is also the 5th oldest rider to win. “They were twisting the throttle for me,” Malcolm said of the hometown crowd.
Max Anstie Sweeps Tampa
Max Anstie completed his first career Supercross Sweep by winning Fastest Qualifier, his Heat and the Main Event. It’s Anstie’s third career win. Anstie holeshot the main but was passed by his teammate Pierce Brown, who led until 7 when he crashed in the whoops and caused a red flag. Brown broke his T5 in the wreck.
Anstie assumed the lead on the staggered restart and his win capitalized on brutal nights by championship hopefuls RJ Hampshire (18th), Levi Kitchen (9th) and Austin Forkner (17th)
