Detroit SX 2025

RD06 | Ford Field

Ford Field is home of the NFL Championship winning Detroit Lions (1935, 1952, 1953 and 1957). If you can’t tell, we have a Lions fan on the staff.

Jett Lawrence won the 450SX in 2024 and Austin Forkner won the 250SX East opener. Forkner. With a win, Forkner could tie Brian Swink and Stephane Roncada as the only 125/250 riders with three wins in Pontiac/Detroit.

Cooper Webb Hunts Another Win

Cooper Webb was in his element in Detroit when he found himself in second place on lap two and only Ken Roczen in front of him. But Roczen had plenty of fight and led the first 22 before Webb pulled off a calculated move that took three segments to execute.

Webb led just three laps en route to his 26th career victory. One more and he will tie Bob Hannah for 9th all-time. Webb, the 5th winner of 2025, is now tied with Chase Sexton in the 450 points.

Kitchen outsprints Anstie

Levi Kitchen won his 5th career 250SX race in a chaotic (and confusing) finish and earned his first career SX Sweep (Fastest Q, Heat, and Main Event wins). Max Anstie, who had a 7-sec. lead over Kitchen before a Cameron Mcadoo-caused red flag came out, finished second.

The confusion came when the red flag flew with only 7 seconds on the race clock. Riders assumed the race would be deemed complete. That rule changed for 2024 (if the clock hit 0:00, the race would have ended) and staggered restarts must run at least three laps. Anstie’s  lead evaporated in the restart and Kitchen had the sprint speed to win.

Chase Sexton's Comeback

Chase Sexton dropped back to last twice on the first lap and still finished third in a gritty comeback that enabled him to hang on to a share of the points lead.

Sexton slammed into the starting before it fell and was left behind on the line. The other 21 riders were more than halfway to the first corner before he freed his KTM. Then Sexton ran into the back of another rider coming out of turn two and restarted in last. He set the fastest lap of the race on lap 10 (00:47.935) and was in third place by lap 20 of 25.
