Local Riders @ The Wick 338

By Fowlers Facts

The Pro Motocross race at The Wick 338 has been held 43 years dating back to 1976. It’s one of the longest running races on today’s circuit and with that is a ‘tradition’ of local riders racing the pace of the best in the world.

Intimate knowledge of the track and especially the unique sand conditions provide locals with a distinct advantage. Case in point – Jimmy Decotis (Beverly, MA – 250MX) in 2023 and Michael Sottile (Marlborough, MA – 450MX) in 2011 set the fastest qualifying times.

By far the most notable locals are John Dowd and Doug Henry. Not only did they deliver the Best Day Ever in New England motocross history (sweeping both motos in each class), but they also had stellar professional careers decorated with championships, wins, and podiums. It’s no surprise they top the list of locals at Southwick, but the list below shows just how many locals have had some level of success on the National weekend.

After you’ve checked out the list, head over to the @wewentfast Instagram page and share a memory from the Southwick national.
