Can Jett Lawrence Break the Single Season Win Record?

By Brett Smith

As a rookie, Jett Lawrence won the 2024 450SX championship and 8 races.

How many can Jett Lawrence win in 2025? Or in any single season in the future? After a once-in-a-generation rookie season, it’s not an unrealistic question to consider the single season win record.

In 1994, a confident athlete in his sophomore season said to a reporter, “I’m faster now than I’ve ever been; I think it would be really neat to win all 15 rounds but I doubt if that will happen.”

McGrath never did win them all but today he’s on the top 10 list of most wins in a season an incredible four times. MC won 10 or more races four seasons!

Thirty years later, that statement to Cycle News causes Jeremy McGrath – the rider who said it – to raise his eyebrows and reply, “Wow, I said that?”

Today that kind of confidence – even the hint of it – buries riders in avalanches of digital vitriol.

The current all-time season win record is 14, set by McGrath in 1996 (15 race season) and tied by Ricky Carmichael in 2001 (16 race season).

Lawrence’s only real job is to repeat as Monster Energy Supercross Champion. But when you win your first title as a rookie, against four other former champions and win (almost) half the races (8/17), including the two biggest events on the schedule (A1 & Daytona) with two three-peat streaks, what else is left to discuss?

Lawrence isn’t concerned about the negativity. It only helps him. “The beast is triggered,” he says. “I want to prove or remind someone why I’m the best. That fuels me a lot. I get the fire when someone goes against me. [I’m like], ‘All right f——er, lets go.’ I’m going to get hated a lot more if I keep winning more. So I may as well just get used to it.”

In 2024 Lawrence fell one win short of cracking the top 10 of most single season wins. The next logical consideration may be, ‘Where does he land on this list at the end of 2025?’
