How Close Will Cooper Webb Be?
By
CW2 loves a razor thin win margin. His competition knows to keep their distance.
Cooper Webb isn’t concerned about laps led, large win margins or fastest qualifier victories. For as impressive as his career resume is, he hasn’t excelled in any of those metrics.
He outright owns one category, however: close finishes. Webb’s average win margin is 2.363*, while the series average since 2019 (the year of his first win) is 4.169.
Eight of Webb’s wins have been under one second and five of his wins are among the 10 closest finishes in recorded history (2003-present).

Webb isn’t a wire-to-wire-win kind of rider. He has 21 career holeshots in eight 450SX seasons and in 2024 alone, Jett Lawrence led more laps than Webb led in all of 2021-2024 combined. Maybe that’s a reason why Webb thinks this:
I don’t ever get put on the ‘hey, he can win a championship’ list. So it’s nice to stay low key, come in, know what it takes.
–Cooper Webb.
It doesn’t seem possible to stay low key when you go from off the charts to the 10th winningest rider in Supercross history (25 wins) in just six seasons.
“Like I’ve always said and I’ll say it ‘till I’m done: I am hard to beat over 17 rounds, right?”
He’s hard to beat because he’s always right there. His name is on this top 10 list below seven times!

And if he doesn’t win, he’s not far from the winner’s circle. Since he started winning in 2019, Webb has had the most podiums among all riders (61 from 2019-2024).
Notable 2024 Webb Facts
- Through 10 rounds, he had “only” led 5 laps (vs. Jett’s 130), but was 2nd in the standings (-21).
- Two Fastest Qualifying wins (Daytona and Foxborough).
- The Fastest Q and main event win combo at Foxborough was a rare feat for Webb. He had only done that one other time in his career (Arlington, 2019).
- And after winning round 13 (Foxborough) he was co-red plate holder with Jett Lawrence.
- Fastest Q career total: 6 in 123 starts. Compare to Eli’s 43 and Jett’s 9 in 2024).
*For Triple Crown Races, we only used the events where he won the overall (and factored in any of the individual races he won). It does NOT include Anaheim II 2024 because he won the overall without winning any of the races.
