2026 Spring Creek Pro Motocross Research

By Brett Smith

With steep uphills, sweeping corners, sand whoops and a creek of the same name, Spring Creek MX Park is Minnesota’s premier Motocross facility. The track’s hometown, Millville, Minnesota, has strong Swedish heritage and a population of fewer than 200 people. Millville’s biggest event is the annual Pro Motocross, which has run uninterrupted since 1983.

This is the 44th running of the Spring Creek National

Name of Facility: Spring Creek Motocross Park

All-Time SX+MX Wins

Spring Creek was a great track for Bob Hannah; he won the very first Pro Motocross held here (1983), was 2nd in 1984 and, in 1985, he won it again in what ultimately became the last Pro Motocross victory of his Hall of Fame career.

41 years later, Jett Lawrence can break (and tie) Hannah on two different lists.

  • Jett’s Southwick win tied him with Hannah for 5th most 250/450MX wins all-time (27)
  • If Lawrence wins out the final five rounds, he ties Eli Tomac at 32 wins for 4th most all-time on the MX premier class list.
  • Looking at ALL SX+MX regular season victories (125/250, 250/450 and 500cc) for SX+MX and Jett is 8th all-time, one win behind… yup, Bob Hannah!

Lawrence Domination

Jett and Hunter Lawrence have competed in 22 rounds of premier class Pro Motocross together (44 motos total)

  • They’ve gone 1-2 (Jett/Hunter or Hunter/Jett) in 11 (half) of those rounds!
  • They’ve gone 1-2 in nearly half of the motos (21 times)!
  • They’ve been 1-2 in 6 of 12 motos run in 2026.
  • The only riders to beat BOTH of them in a single moto since 2024: Chase Sexton, (5x), Eli Tomac (2x), and Aaron Plessinger.
  • No rider has beaten both of them in 2026 in a single moto.
  • Chase Sexton (twice) is the only rider to beat BOTH of them for an overall win since 2024, when Hunter moved to the 450 class.

450 Points Battles

After 6 rounds Jett and Hunter Lawrence are separated by just 1 point! That ties for the closest championship battle (after 6 rounds) in class history.

  • Consider: in 2025, Jett Lawrence had a +51 point lead over Hunter after 6 rounds and a +67 point lead over Dylan Ferrandis in 2023.
  • Only three riders on the chart below were able to hang on to their points lead and win the championship: Chase Sexton (2024), Ryan Villopoto (2013) and Eli Tomac (2017).

*Since 1994, the conclusion of the 6th round has been the halfway point in the season, with some slight variations. Before 1994, the premier class round count varied greatly.

250 Points Battles

After 6 rounds in the 250s we’ve got a title battle separated by just 2 points with Cole Davies and Levi Kitchen (see more about red plates below).

  • Relative to the 450s, we’ve had lots of tight championship battles in the small bike class (no surprise, right?!) with the top 10 closest all less than 10 points.
  • 4 of the top 10 closest battles have happened since 2020!
  • While there’s been more closer battles in the 250s, fewer saw changes in those leads. Seven of the top 10 closest battles were won by the lead rider after 6 rounds. Only in 1995, 2021, and 2023 did the leader change after round 6.

Cole Davies is now the 4th 250MX rider to earn the red plate this season. Additionally, all four riders to hold the lead in 2026 have been first-time Pro Motocross points leaders.

  • It’s been 31 years since four different rider had the points lead in the 125/250 class.
  • 2026 will be just the 4th time in class history that at least 4 riders have been the points leader.
