San Diego SX 2025

RD 02 | SnapDragon Stadium

Can Chase Sexton make it two in a row after a commanding win at the opener last week? Or does Aaron Plessinger follow-up his maiden win here last season with another victory?

Eli Tomac: win #53

Eli Tomac only needed two rounds to make history in the 2025 Monster Energy Supercross Championship. His win at the San Diego Supercross gave him sole ownership of the record for most consecutive years of winning 450SX races (11).

And not only was it a 53rd career win (2nd all-time) but it gave him the points lead and yet another record: he’s the oldest rider (32 yrs. 2 months) to ever lead the 450SX championship.

First career win for Julien Beaumer

One week after capturing his first top five finish (and podium!), Julien Beaumer won the 2025 San Diego Supercross, his first career victory, in just his 12th start.

The 18-year-old took over the lead on lap eight and beat veteran Jordon Smith (holeshot) by three seconds.

In another ‘sign of the times’ stat, Beaumer was one of four teenagers in the top five!

1980: A First for America's Finest.

Yamaha’s Mike Bell ended the 1980 season with a win at the first ever San Diego SX. He beat Donnie Hansen and local hero Marty Tripes in front of 40,000. In a scheduling oddity, San Diego (round 17) happened 10 weeks after Philadelphia, where Bell wrapped the title.

In lesser-remembered news, World 250 MX champ, Georges Jobe and factory Husqvarna rider Leif Niklasson attempted Supercross racing. Neither qualified for the main event.
