STEP 1:
Initial photos to be used for poster inspiration. Need to narrow this set of 16 (or find something not part of this) down to 1. Take a look and send me the 2 or 3 you like most!
STEP 2:
For now this is just a ‘data dump’ and some musings on Chad’s career stats. Let me know what stats jump out for you!
The highlights are most all-time Supercross starts (273), points (4,701), and podiums (139). Remove the small bike class and Chad also tops starts (265), points (4,503), and podiums (132). Wins is the 1 of 4 major stats categories he does not own for Supercross. Wins he ranks 6th (50) with classes combined and 5th all-time (44) in the premier class.
Of interesting note is how many times Chad finished 1st or 2nd. Why you ask!? Chad raced 4 of arguably the 5 best (RC, Stew, Dungey, and RV less McGrath) in the modern era of the sport [With all due respect to the all-timers of the 1970’s and 1980’s]. His path to victory each weekend was arguably one of the most difficult in the sport.
Supercross Ranks
- 5th – all-time premier class wins (44)
- 1st – all-time premier class 2nd place finishes (59)
- 1st – all-time premier class wins and 2nd place finishes (103)
Perspective matters…
- Ryan Dungey has the second most 2nd place finishes with 39, nearly half of Chad’s 59.
- Only 40 riders in the history of the Supercross premier class have even started 103 main events. Chad was 1st or 2nd in 103!
Fun Fact: Chad finished 1st or 2nd in 142 of his 384 career starts (all classes, SX+MX) – tied for 5th all-time with arguably his biggest career rival, James Stewart.
